Spring 2024 Update: Veterans with Dogs
We are proud to support Dogs for Veterans through the sale of our Crystal Dreams Poppy
Few animals are loved more than dogs; our faithful companions are man’s best friend.
Veterans with Dogs is an Exeter-based charity that trains and provides assistance dogs for current and former members of the British Armed Forces. With a firm belief in the incredible power of the human-canine connection, their mission is to empower veterans who have complex mental health difficulties, including PTSD.
The assistance dogs have a powerful and lasting impact on their owners’ lives, providing unwavering support one wet nose at a time.
A proportion of each sale of our Crystal Dreams Poppy helps support this life-changing charity.
Wild Things Gifts are proud to support a number of charities, both locally and nationally. We make monthly donations to Devon Wildlife Trust and the Woodland Trust, and each Christmas, every member of the team nominates a chosen charity that means something to them.
In 2023 we donated just over £2,000 to the following charities:
Julian House
Little Valley Animal Shelter
Hospiscare
St Petrock's
Samaritans
Refugee Support Devon
Chameleon Buddies
Sea Life Trust
Woodland Trust
Cornwall Wildlife Trust
Cancer Research
Dementia UK
British Hen Welfare Trust
Wild Things Gifts are proud to support Bees Abroad through the sale of our Crystal Fantasy Bee.
To those of you unfamiliar with the world of beekeeping, it's a very small community. Whether it's beekeeping in the UK or somewhere across the world, beekeepers all share a strong bond, working together to promote the care and conservation of those small, buzzy creatures.
At Wild Things Gifts, we have been designing and making crystal suncatchers for 40 years here in the UK. Business has changed a lot over those years, with a profound shift in attitudes towards sustainability and how we can all be kinder to our planet. As part of our core values, Wild Things has always looked to support great charitable causes. We chose Bees Abroad as our first main charity because of the work they do: mentoring, teaching, and enabling some of the world’s poorest communities to achieve a sustainable income through beekeeping. Bees Abroad is based in the UK and staffed by volunteers.
Projects are all about sustainability. Applicants are thoroughly vetted, and trainers are appointed to pass on their skills and knowledge—from the first steps of how to build a beehive and make a protective bee suit using local resources, all the way through to generating a sustainable income. Bees Abroad mentors, supports, and shares knowledge.
Honey isn't primarily a food source in many poor countries. It's highly valued because of its medicinal properties, and of course, with honey comes beeswax, which is used for hand creams and salves. Nothing goes to waste.
Bees are important for our ecology both here in the UK and around the world. At Wild Things, we know your donations through our Bee Crystal Fantasy have a positive impact on the work of Bees Abroad.
